The Plantage Choir (Het Plantagekoor), under the baton of Bert 't Hart, performs Rossini's dramatic and imposing 'Le Petite Messe Solennelle' at the English Church in Amsterdam. Composed when Rossini was 71, long after he had retired from opera, the work retains a distinctively operatic and bel-canto character with intricate ornamentation. Despite its title translating to 'little solemn mass', the piece is known for its dramatic scale and unusual instrumentation for church music of the time.
