Na vijf jaar keert de gelauwerde Californische trompettist en componist Ambrose Akinmusire terug naar LantarenVenster met een nieuw album op komst. Akinmusire staat bekend om zijn poëtische en verbeeldingsrijke sound waarin hij elementen uit hiphop, pop, spoken word en klassieke muziek verweeft. De muzikant won de prestigieuze Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition en werkte samen met grootheden als Herbie Hancock en Wayne Shorter. Ook leverde hij een bijdrage aan Kendrick Lamars veelgeprezen album To Pimp a Butterfly. In zijn werk eert hij de traditie van zwarte vindingrijkheid terwijl hij voortdurend op zoek is naar nieuwe klanken en verborgen lagen.
