Alongside trumpeter Peter Evans, the group features vibraphonist Joel Ross, bassist Nick Jozwiak, and drummer Tyshawn Sorey. This project avoids stylistic collages in favor of invention in the moment, creating music that feels composed while it is being born. Their album Ars Ludicra, recorded at the legendary Rudy Van Gelder Studio, represents a significant step in the group's collective evolution, moving from sparse motifs to powerful collective climaxes.
