OUT Ensemble
Queer, underground βραδιά classical
As part of Pride Amsterdam, OUT Ensemble presents a concert at the English Church on the Begijnhof. This US-based wind quintet of LGBTQ+ musicians is dedicated to performing and commissioning works by queer composers, aiming to increase representation in classical music and inspire audiences to embrace their authentic identities. The program explores a wide range of musical colors, from the sultry sounds of jazz to exuberant celebrations. Highlights include the world premiere of a new transcription of Dutch composer Henriëtte Bosmans' String Quartet, alongside international premieres of commissions by Nora Farley and Mattie Levy. The repertoire also features works by Billy Strayhorn and Samuel Barber.
