Symphonies for Youth
The Los Angeles Philharmonic invites children ages 5 to 11 to discover the power of orchestral music through the Symphonies for Youth series. This performance features a new work by composer Carlos Simon, inspired by Benjamin Britten’s The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, with text by spoken word artist Marc Bamuthi Joseph. The 45-minute concert is designed to spark young imaginations and provide an engaging introduction to the different families of instruments within a world-class orchestra. Families are encouraged to arrive an hour early at 10am to participate in a variety of pre-concert activities and interactive fun throughout the venue, tailored to the theme of the morning's performance.
