Barbi Recanati

Barbi Recanati is one of the most influential figures in contemporary Argentine alternative rock and indie music, standing out not only as a musician but also as a passionate activist and cultural advocate. After leading the garage rock band Utopians for over a decade and earning a Latin Grammy nomination, Recanati launched a solo career that redefined her sound. She has moved away from raw punk to embrace a post-punk and new wave aesthetic characterized by lush synthesizers and chorus-soaked guitars. Her critically acclaimed solo work includes the Gardel Award-winning Ubicación en tiempo real and El final de las cosas, which explores nostalgic sounds and emotionally direct songwriting. Beyond her own music, she co-founded Goza Records to support women and gender-diverse artists and authored Mostras del Rock, a project celebrating the overlooked history of women in rock music.
