Lynyrd Skynyrd

Lynyrd Skynyrd, formed in 1966, is an American southern hard-rock, country and blues band hailing from Jacksonville, Florida. The band's earliest incarnation performed as My Backyard and One Percent before adopting their signature name in 1970. They signed to MCA in 1972 and released their debut album in 1973, featuring the anthem "Free Bird," which showcased their famous three-guitar attack. The group achieved massive success in the 1970s with multi-platinum albums like Second Helping and hits such as "Sweet Home Alabama." Following a tragic plane crash in 1977 that claimed the lives of several members, the band broke up but eventually reunited in 1987. Since then, they have continued to record and tour, solidifying their legacy as pillars of Southern rock.
