Konzert zum Jahreswechsel
Νοσταλγική βραδιά classical
Unter den Linden 7, 10117 Berlin, Germany
Babelsberg and Hollywood – these are names that have had a legendary sound in the film world since the beginnings of cinema. In the 1920s, major silent film productions were created in Babelsberg, on the outskirts of Berlin, for which powerful symphonic music was often composed, including for the monumental film Metropolis. Exactly 100 years after the completion and premiere of this cinematic vision of the future, excerpts from the impressive film music by Gottfried Huppertz will be performed. Also on the program are parts of the soundtracks from Gone with the Wind, a famous Hollywood production from 1939 with music by Max Steiner, as well as a symphonic suite for the equally spectacular film The Adventures of Robin Hood, composed by Erich Wolfgang Korngold, who significantly shaped the history of Hollywood with his numerous film scores from the 1930s to the 1950s.
