Songhoy Blues is a desert blues band from Mali, formed in 2012 by Oumar Touré, Aliou Touré, and Garba Touré. The group emerged from political displacement when a jihadist group forced them from their homes in Northern Mali, leading them to music as a way to tell their story. Known for energetic live shows and albums like 'Music in Exile' and the rock-oriented 'Optimisme', the band captures the spirit of their homeland. Their 2025 album 'Héritage' incorporates traditional instruments like the kora and soku, blending original compositions with traditional Malinese works.
