Marlon The Pannist
Marlon Hibbert is an award-winning steelpan musician who is stepping forward as an artist in his own right. As the first steelpan player to graduate from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, his music reflects both the traditions of the instrument and its place within contemporary jazz. His influences range from Victor Provost and Andy Narell to Leon Foster Thomas, Stevie Wonder and Hiromi. A three-time UK Pan Clash Champion Soloist, Marlon has performed at major festivals and venues including Love Supreme, Jazz Re:freshed, and the Royal Albert Hall. His emotive compositions and distinctive approach continue to expand the role of the steelpan within the modern jazz landscape.
