A key figure in the Chicago music scene and member of The Sea and Cake, Sam Prekop has spent more than three decades developing a unique musical language that blends melody, abstraction, and rhythmic precision. In his solo work, which focuses on modular synthesis, he builds delicate and constantly evolving compositions. His latest album, Open Close, explores the balance between intuition and structure, capturing the energy of live performance through rich, spatial electronic landscapes. His practice finds beauty and complexity in minimalism, creating a sonic universe that is both subtle and expansive.
