Kunstlieder aus Lateinamerika
Underground, αργή βραδιά classical
Gustav-Adolf-Straße 2, 13086 Berlin, Germany
Under the direction of composer Rafael Marino Arcaro, soprano Hannah Dienes-Williams and Ensemble Utak present an extraordinary concert in Germany consisting entirely of world premieres. Spanning a century of Latin American music from 1927 to 2026, the program connects early modernism with contemporary voices from Brazil, Chile, Peru, Cuba, and Mexico. At the center of the performance is the world premiere of "what i learned from manoel de barros," Arcaro's setting of Manoel de Barros's 1998 poetry collection. The work transforms the poet's fragile language into a bold vocal soundscape that evokes the quiet rural regions of Brazil. The evening features additional works and arrangements by Dinorá de Carvalho, Tomás Brantmayer, Sofía Alvarez, Carlos Chávez, and Amadeo García Caturla.
