For his Roulette Commission, Qasim Naqvi performs two new works: a solo study for modular synthesizer and a chamber work for piano, string trio, and three improvisers. The music continues Naqvi's exploration of graphic notational systems, inspired by the open-form works of Earle Brown and Krzysztof Penderecki. The performance features a collaborative ensemble including members of the International Contemporary Ensemble. Qasim Naqvi is a versatile percussionist and composer known for his work with the minimalist trio Dawn of Midi and his multidisciplinary projects spanning film, dance, and installation art. His compositions have been commissioned by prestigious groups such as the London Contemporary Orchestra and Bang on a Can All-Stars.
