London Symphony Orchestra/John Adams
A celebration of John Adams’ 80th birthday featuring some of his most exuberant works. The program includes the high-energy Short Ride in a Fast Machine and the minimalist rhythms of ‘The Chairman Dances’ from Nixon in China. The evening also showcases Shaker Loops and the 2024 piano concerto After the Fall, which blends Baroque influences with 21st-century beauty. Composer John Adams takes the podium to conduct, joined by the concerto's dedicatee, pianist Víkingur Ólafsson, for an evening of celebratory contemporary classical music.
