Malena Cadiz

Malena Cadiz brings her intimate songwriting to the Philosophical Research Society library. Born in Michigan and based in Los Angeles, the Filipino-American artist crafts deeply personal vignettes that explore themes of home and identity. Her storytelling has been compared to Joan Didion, while her voice draws comparisons to Cat Power and Angel Olsen. Having released three studio albums and numerous EPs, Cadiz's most recent LP, Hellbent & Moonbound, was produced by Andrew Lappin. Her work has received acclaim from outlets like Vogue, NPR, and The Fader. Beyond her solo career, she is active in the L.A. music community, co-hosting the Virgin Ears songwriter series and co-founding Glow Big L.A., which provides music education in Northeast Los Angeles. The Philosophical Research Society's Library Concert Series aims to create a transcendent experience by bringing listeners and creators together in an impactful, connective setting.
