A symphonic concert exploring the cosmos of love through the works of Richard Strauss and Robert Schumann. The program features Strauss's Don Juan, a tone poem capturing the fiery pulses of youth, and his Six Songs on poems by Clemens Brentano, which delve into the more sorrowful aspects of romance. The evening also includes Schumann's Fourth Symphony in D minor, a work described by his wife Clara as being drawn from the deepest soul and written shortly after their marriage. Conducted by General Music Director James Gaffigan.
