Mingus Big Band - 7:00pm

The Mingus Big Band performs the music of American composer and bassist Charles Mingus. Established by Sue Mingus, this 14-piece ensemble features arrangements of Mingus' compositions in a large band format, fulfilling a vision the artist had throughout his life. The group provides a platform for individual artistic expression through deep explorations of Mingus' repertoire, drawing from a rotation of established and emerging New York musicians. Known for its creative spontaneity, the ensemble has earned seven Grammy nominations and a win in 2011. This performance is part of their Mingus Mondays residency at The Pocket.
