The genre is characterized by its heavy use of harsh, mechanical textures, incorporating synthesizers, samplers, and found-object percussion like metal scraps to evoke factory-like soundscapes. Rhythms are often repetitive and driving, ranging from sluggish, grinding tempos to high-speed percussive assaults, while the mood remains consistently dark, abrasive, and confrontational.
