Korean Traditional εκδηλώσεις στις Βρυξέλλες

Korean traditional music, known as Gugak, traces its origins back to prehistoric ritual practices and achieved formalization during the Joseon dynasty. It is characterized by the use of unique instruments such as the gayageum zither, haegeum fiddle, and janggu drum, which emphasize natural timbres and intricate vibrato techniques. The music is structured around complex rhythmic cycles called jangdan, providing a flexible framework for emotional expressions ranging from the profound sorrow of han to the ecstatic joy of heung. As a foundational cultural pillar, it maintains a distinct microtonal and pentatonic identity, serving as the historical precursor to modern Korean folk and experimental contemporary fusions.
