I read the book a few years ago and this is a beat for beat adaptation, for better and for worse. It looks beautiful and I appreciated what it was going for but the protagonist remains an infuriatingly blank slate. Perhaps it’s my more extroverted nature but I had basically nothing to latch onto her with. The extended runtime just made me more impatient with her also, I’m sure this level of social awkwardness is debilitating but when there’s nothing interesting about the main character it’s hard to want to buy in.

The chemistry in this was nice but it was just too slow and honestly confusing. Could've been worse.Also apologies yet again to the lady in front of me that I managed to knee in the back of the head while sitting down. IM SORRY MY LEGS ARE TOO LONG 😭😭😭😭😭. Still probably the most exciting part of the whole movie.
