The first film gave us “moydamukho”, and this film has given us “baaynamukho” and “faaydamukho”.Anyway, this film had absolutely no business being 168 minutes long. Two hours and 48 minutes, and still not a single bright moment? For a film running for 168 minutes, this is a rather amateurish and intolerable effort, especially considering the budgetary and production constraints that Bengali cinema often faces. On top of that, the writing and storytelling are messy, disjointed, and all over the place.Had this film been around 120 to 130 minutes long, I would have been much happier watching it. But, waking up at 7 AM on a holiday, only to sit through such a bad film because your parents insisted on it? That really does not make sense to me.I am rating this film 3 stars because the climax somewhat redeems it, compensating for several of the poor scenes we have to endure beforehand.Although the entire film is fairly predictable, and follows the familiar template established by its predecessor, the climax is still slightly better than the rest of the film.I am also giving it 3 stars for Mithun Chakraborty’s three-minute cameo towards the end. After sitting through all those dull moments, seeing him was an absolute delight. His appearance also hints at a possible third instalment in the franchise, which I genuinely hope the makers can do justice to.I really hope the makers do a better job with the third instalment. This film was almost unwatchable for me, particularly after the impact ‘Jailer 2’ had on me. The contrast in my cinematic experiences could hardly have been more dramatic. 💀Also, please refer to the rating system mentioned in my profile description to understand how I rate films. I give a film 3 stars when I do not particularly like it. This is one such film. It is not completely ridiculous, but it is highly intolerable for me.
