Because I directed it, I’m not comfortable rating this from the viewpoint of an audience member. My 5 stars are for the cast and crew who helped bring this to life. They’re all amazingly talented people with massive hearts and a love for movies. And I think that shows in what’ve done here.
Welcome to South Tromaville, where Tromabillies kill fluffy forest animals for fun, enjoy big-buxomed strippers, but still sneak off into tents for some sexy time with the guys because they "need quality bonding time" (still not gay).But all the fun and games come to an end during a full moon when a half-man, half-deer creature starts ripping off heads and penises left and right. Randy (Derek Woodrow Johnson) gets bitten by one of the creatures and slowly begins succumbing to the transformation himself, while his wife-to-be and stripper Bekki (porn actress Nadia White) suspects there are other reasons behind his strange behavior.Originally meant as a fake trailer project shot during the COVID pandemic by director Ben Johnson, this luckily evolved into a full-fledged feature. It perfectly harkens back to the extremely rude and crude era of Troma Entertainment in the early 2000s with stuff like "Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV (2000)" and "Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead (2006)", packed with so many offensive moments that it genuinely tries to offend absolutely everyone, except the people, like me, this was clearly made for.Everything is played in such an insanely over-the-top cartoonish fashion that it will either annoy the hell out of you or completely win you over with its relentless joke-every-ten-seconds energy. A sex scene with sultry saxophone music suddenly pans to the right, revealing a fat-bellied half-naked saxophone player performing live in the room. That moment had me laughing so hard I was instantly on board for whatever insanity this movie still had in store. There are even two cops accompanied by clownish cartoon sound effects with every single step they take because they're complete buffoons.There are plenty of gloriously disgusting practical gore effects featuring head-ripping, anus-tearing, and explosive diarrhea, with a body count well over 50. If you're a fan of unsubtle Troma-style humor, this is mandatory viewing. Of course, the film also features a cameo by Lloyd Kaufman, while Liam Regan, director of "Eating Miss Campbell (2022)", can also be spotted as a patron in a strip club.This sure was fun! Now bring on "Poultrygeist 2: Dawn of the Chicken Dead"!
Saw this last night at Hollywood theater - fun time!Randy gets bitten by some deer creature before his bachelor hunting party and really goes through it as people around town start ending up dead. Absolutely chocked full of fluids, genital harm, titties, and goofy/offensive humor - this was a riot and surprisingly feminist? Looking forward to seeing more from Ben Johnson!I also got a Toxie shirt, which I was pretty happy about lol
