I love that going to the cinema is no longer limited to films only. This is my first "cinema event", I enjoyed it a lot (though it's much different than the operas and ballets that are live). These events democratize art, render it accessible to a wider audience (and infuriate purists on both sides); I find that very exciting. Both exhibits presented here were very cool; the first being Hockney's Yorkshire landscapes, the second was his 82 portraits and one still life. It's like a documentary, but the scope never exceeds these two exhibits. While it's not like seeing it in real life, it adds something different—something you don't get at an actual exhibit—that make this very worthwhile; Hockney being interviewed and sharing his creative process, what inspires and excites him, still, after such a long career, and seeing the different steps of his art (photographed by his assistant Jean-Pierre Gonçalvez de Lima).
