Silence!I will forever revere Blixa Bargeld during his time at Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien / Die Hamletmaschine / pre-Faust era as my spiritual guide and messiah, still being the most militant one. This is Mars in the form that Berlin chose for him at the turn of two eras.[Silence! Call to arms! To break free from conditioning! Headcleaner! Take a stand! Beware! Unpredictable from the beginning!]The year of 1993, an ill-fated albeit not as rotten as the next one. And definitely not as desperate as the one I live in.[New marvels, new terrors. A whirlwind against tradition. For the twists in the mind, a whirlwind as Headcleaner! The decaying worm is stirring!]I, too, indulged in leisurely strolls along the overgrown rails of Anhalter Bahnhof. I also found myself in a moment of contemplation in front of Olympiastadion.[Solidified thoughts, frozen tightly with Headcleaner!]I also displayed "Gesucht" posters from the grand staircase of Tempodrom as if it were a stage. If Herr Bargeld had commanded me to do so, I would have leaped over the Berlin Wall towards der DDR four years prior without hesitation. [Behind us is emptiness, with us the malice against the masses. Any method is justified and easy, only for the average]In this film and its commentary, the aspirations of the past are shattered, but as Hans Richter said, art thrives in the ruins and always emerges anew from them. Essentially, EN embarks on a new journey a la tabula rasa, gradually transitioning from noise to silence. Silence may not seem sexy, unless you find yourself in the midst of chaos, like the calm eye of a typhoon. We sincerely desire this silence, but still choose to be blessed by fire.[This is ablaze, that is crumbling. Thick and heavy ash rain dissolving into smoke and mist. It's brightening, but not daylight, rather approaching flames; in the distance lingers darkness once more. The sun emerges, a cloudy solar eclipse. All objects covered in ash, as if blanketed in snow. But we, who now recognize the peril, and are present, cannot make a decision now either...]One day I'll drown myself in the ashes of faded Berliner industrial landscapes. But I'll never forgive Bargeld for deliberately yet mockingly imitating you-know-who, albeit he has always been my second favourite lord of the flies and king of the frogs in German theatrical space. The nowadays dreams scare me more than usual nightmares. The vision of a black polished boot on my throat never fades away. This is what it feels like to be the personification of the Weimar Republic. I'll never forgive myself for being faithfully blind for so long; now repeat the first sentence.
