Ο Χρήστος έρχεται το 1969 με την οικογένειά του από την επαρχία στην Αθήνα, φοιτά σε ένα Γυμνάσιο αρρένων της πρωτεύουσας και προετοιμάζεται για τις εισαγωγικές εξετάσεις στο πανεπιστήμιο. Γρήγορα γίνεται μέλος μιας παρέας τελειοφοίτων. Οι νεαροί θα αντιμετωπίσουν την πνιγηρή πραγματικότητα και την ανελευθερία της εποχής, μέσα απ’τις μαθητικές σκανταλιές, τη ροκ μουσική, τη θεατρική ομάδα που έχουν στήσει και τους έρωτες, οι οποίοι θα ενώσουν αλλά και θα χωρίσουν τους φίλους και συμμαθητές.

David Stratton’s introduction to THE END OF AN ERA, shown on SBS Movie of the Week:DAVID: Our film tonight is a recent production from Greece. END OF AN ERA, made in 1994, is a kind of Greek AMERICAN GRAFFITI, a nostalgic, romantic look at students attending an Athens High School in 1969/70. This was indeed the end of an era; the years of dictatorship were ending. Director Antonis Kokkinos depicts, in black and white images, the late 60’s quite vividly, and there's certainly an autobiographical feeling to the film. Dimosthenis Papadopoulos plays Christos, the young hero who is nicknamed ‘Trog’ after the British rock band, and it's through his eyes that we see life in an Athens High School at the end of an era. The film was a very big success in Greece about 18 months ago.
