Saw the premiere at the TCFF - Shot in Ely, MN. Doesn't shy away from exploring the most difficult aspects of a very difficult discussion/situation. The film is at its best when the 4 main family members are spending time together on screen. All 4 actors are the standouts of the film, carrying it throughout.To me, there were just a few janky story development moments. As though they could have just spent a few more shots priming the audience for ideas they discuss later in the film, or things to happen.Overall, was very cool experience watching the film surrounded by crew members and people who had truly invested in the creation of the film. And was very powerful in terms of opening up a dialogue on how men, both young and old, can be affected by witnessing trauma in the women they love, and how to navigate understanding how men can cause harm in society. Haven't seen something quite like it yet in terms of the tenderness toward that discussion.
