Classic Stephen Chow humor haha. The jokes are ridiculous in the best way, and the rough CGI somehow adds to the charm of the movie. It’s silly, over-the-top, and definitely has that signature Stephen Chow style. Not perfect, but still a pretty fun watch

Kung Fu Soccer (2026): When the Comedy Doesn't LandWhat’s the difference between a person without a dream and a salted fish?I went into the film with some expectations because it is directed by Stephen Chow and the title naturally made me think of Shaolin Soccer (2001), a famous Hong Kong sport comedy. Unfortunately, I found it quite disappointing. There are some references and similarities to Shaolin Soccer (2001), but they mostly reminded me of how much more fun the earlier film was.What bothers me most is how it reflects what I see as the downfall of Chinese comedy films. The ingredients are there, absurd situations, exaggerated characters, kung fu, football and silly humour, but unfortunately, very little of it actually made me laugh. The film seems to rely too much on familiar ideas instead of creating genuinely funny moments.Even with Stephen Chow behind it, I didn't feel the same creativity or comedic energy that made his older films so memorable. The references to Shaolin Soccer (2001) feel more like nostalgia than something that adds much to the new film.
