I'm always a sucker for a good art documentary. This is it. The director spoke about working on it since 2004. Yayoi Kusama has created art well ahead of her time since she was 10 years old. She was ignored for a time since she was Japanese and a woman. The documentary made sure to highlight that the art world in the 1960s was dominated by white men. Her drive and her perseverance made her the top-selling living artist according to the documentary. The artist's profile grew from the time the director started making the documentary until the time it was eventually released. The director hoped her documentary would introduce more people to the artist...and even though I love to check out art, I had really never heard of her.
