"Żeby żyć, trzeba zapomnieć."The opening scene was marvelous but the rest of the film... was just fine. I didn't quite like the characters nor the story but there were some parts I enjoyed - like when Nina and Tadeusz were running away from the camp and we got to see a beautiful shot of them running through the hills... or when they were laying in the forest and talking and talking... The dialogues weren't great but they were still interesting. The music did heavy lifting, for sure, and that was the part that I loved the most. The ending was a bit overwhelming but the credits were fun :DMy Wajda ranking

Wajda movie about the aftermath of WWII liberation trying multiple approaches to better handle the devasting moral and emotional state of Poland post war. The landscape is of course more mental than anything else, but the title feels true to its attempt to imagine it in a physical terms and the movie desperate sorrowful absurdism is very powerful. It is one of Wajda stronger efforts whose flaws more a matter of excessive ambition, he is trying so much some of his choices are bound to be feel questionable, but it is hard not to appreciate it.

Na papierze wydaje się bardzo interesujacym spojrzeniem na wojnę i to obiecuje zresztą świete otwarcie. Szybko okazuje się jednak, że przy dużo ciekawszych, mniej jednoznacznych, wcześniejszych filmach Andrzeja Wajdy o podobnej tematyce, "Krajobraz po bitwie" to napuszony bełkot, po brzegi wypchany pretensjonalną, narodową symboliką. Irytują mnie pompatyczne dialogi, chaotyczna struktura i nachalnie emocjonalny finał - nawet jeśli znajdują się tu wartościowe wnioski na temat wyzwolenia czy kondycji powojennej Europy, to są podane w nieznośnej, przeszarżowanej formie.
