Man survived a cocaine addiction, HIV, a massive heart attack, and now even Dutch cuisine
Portrait as cinema, as an alter-ego.Attention seeking Mickey Squires, as a shape shifter model icon and porn legend, simultaneously juggling while trying to balance, a just human cinderella-man, as love-worthy Richard Bernstein, all adding up to a moving and inspired survivor's story.Eventually struggling to persevere and ultimately living comfortably enough with himself, and then to suddenly and unexpectedly after tragedy, be blessed with that godlike gift from dear ones around him, and suddenly embracing with the one miracle that truly matters, that one called Love.
A very vulnerable portrait. By focussing on Richard’s life a different kind of archival practice shimmers through. We are not only looking at footage, but Richard himself is constantly commenting on that footage and where he was in that stage of his live. His personal relation to his changing body is juxtaposed with the changing gay porn industry. I thought this project was very effective.
Πρόκειται για ένα πορτρέτο του εμβληματικού ηθοποιού ταινιών ενηλίκων της δεκαετίας του ογδόντα Mickey Squires και του ανθρώπου που τον ενσάρκωσε, του Richard Bernstein.
Σκηνοθετήθηκε από τους Ryan A. White και A.P. Pickle το 2026 ως μια ντοκιμαντερίστικη εξερεύνηση της queer ιστορίας.
