Rarely have I ever felt the fear of the ordinary as I do here. Just an ordinary man. An ordinary face. An ordinary smile that bares such ordinary words. Somehow, without ever veering into the territory of the fantastical or supernatural, Patrick Tam is able to capture the most ordinary of things and make us feel deeply, animalistically, unsafe. A hand opening a car door as a pair of legs sprawls forth drove me to anxiety as the ensuing synth drones lulled me into a state of catatonic fight-or-flight. Bliss. Bullet in my head before I even blinked. There's ultimately nothing more here than what are ordinary acts done by ordinary people and it is as such that they become extraordinarily horrifying."You are not a human being.""Yes, I'm God."

What do you get when you add God-tier level cinematography, a synth heavy score, a straightforward plot (!) with a perfect mix of action, drama and romance, and actors giving it their bloody all? A frickin' Hong Kong classic, that's what! First The Sword and now this; I am convinced of Patrick Tam's genius.
