Other than 80s slashers there's only one other genre I devote my life to seeing every film involved. And that genre is low budget and campy sci fi trainwrecks! These types of films are always a fun gamble but also have the highest potential for a WTF gem. And at minimum you know you will get something imaginative and endearing. I had no clue what the plot of Robo Holocaust was but some of the highlights included cheap costumes, low budget lasery FX, sweet music, sword fights and a dude in an egg. Some kind of alien egg creature. So not bad. Oh and how did I almost forget the poor man's C3PO! A bumbling clumsy mess of a robot but hey he sure did try his little heart out! Overall Robo Holocaust was a little underwhelming. A lot of the locations and environments were very samey and even the characters and costumes were repetitive. There were some sword and sorcery vibes which I'm not super into as I usually hope for more of a futuristic apocalypse kinda theme. Well except for Fulci's Conquest. That's the exception as far as sword and sorcery goes. I will probably still buy this on blu ray for $35 and won't regret a thing 🤣😳🤖

"Robot Holocaust" is a 1986 dystopian science fiction feature directed by Tim Kincaid. Straight to video wonderment at its best, the film is a schlocky tale of future society where robots enslave a majority of the human population and make them fight in death battles. There is an outsider population of free humans in resistance form, and a ragtag grouping of them go up against the supreme evil "Dark One" in an attempt to free one of the character's father, who invented a device to release all the slaves. With Charles Band as executive producer, it's clunky, full of bad fighting and even worst robot suits, every positive you would expect it to be. The film has a ton of fun elements to it but it would not stand up to match the next film that would show up in Kincaid's filmography's "Mutant Hunt" (1987) which is everything that this film strives to be. It's still getting there by all means, making this a great time if you want to watch a dumb film, plain and simple. Kincaid would eventually get out of the business of schlock, go by the alternate alias of Joe Gage and make a crap ton of male porn. In that sense, hey whatever floats your boat, just don't let it catch you off guard if you click on his filmography on Letterboxd and scroll down. Either way, "Robot Holocaust" is really a laughable novelty film that somehow pulls off a card being so technically bad that it's a ball of fun. Once again, "Mutant Hunt" is the cream of the crop in this avenue, but you're sure to have a good time with this one.

Imagine a world where C-3PO is a demolitions expert and Conan is mute, where the Alien chest-burster is a cyborg and only mutants can breathe the toxic air of the Brooklyn Naval Yards. A world where pleasure is only found in the orgasmatron straight out of Woody Allen's Sleeper, while out in the wilds the free women are savages who mate only to procreate then kill their partner. This is an alternative universe of low-budget filmmaking, a brief moment in the 80's when Charles Band connected with a porn director and NYU art students in New York City and they created a sort of east-coast style of scrappy, DIY filmmaking, a world where no one could act but everyone looked good, and where creativity flourished in the props, costumes, and especially, the line delivery. Hand puppet worms, fuzzy spider arms, a very cool looking robot cross between Darth Vader and a Mind Flayer, and a sex starved cyborg from...Sweden? You will fall under the Dark One's spell, and you, too, will feel like not enough oxygen is getting to your brain. Hits me right in the bad movie fun zone sweet spot.
