Crusading DA and ex-con happen to be identical leading to a plot by a corrupt gang boss to replace one with the other. Some decent dialogue and pacy enough to never make you realise just how ropey the plot is and turn it off. In fact it remains fun for a lot of it's short run time and has some stuff with the two doubles girlfriends that has a nice Torchy Blane kinda feel. It's not great, it's not even good, but i don't want the time back I spent with it.
This was a surprisingly good noir with Don Castle doing double duty as an incorruptible district attorney and the criminal doppelganger a crime boss plans to replace him with. The big issue here is how it collapses in on itself with a completely rushed ending that squanders the great buildup. All things considered, it's still a good movie, but I wish the finale had been more drawn out and rewarding.
