Sorry for logging this after watching only Rajasthan's segment, but I just couldn't wait. Despite having almost no dialogue, this film delivers one of the most authentic cinematic portrayals of Rajasthan and the Kalbeliya community I've ever seen. Each of the four songs in this segment tells its own story, so I thought I'd provide a brief explanation of each song's meaning for anyone curious about what they're about:Sat Bhayan Ki Ek BehanadliThe song is basically a story of a girl, who is the only sister among her 7 brothers. So in this song she is complaining to her mom and brothers that why did they get her married off so far away in the sand dunes and that her husband doesnt even give her fare to travel back to them. Oh Kesariyo Hazari Gul Ro PhoolThis song is traditionally associated with a wedding, where the groom is compared to the rare (among 1000 flowers) and beautiful saffron-colored flower and praised for his radiance, but it is also a celebratory folk song that expresses admiration for a beloved through poetic images of flowers, saffron, and the beauty of the Rajasthani desert. It captures feelings of love, joy, and appreciation, celebrating both the person being praised and the spirit of Rajasthan.Baba RamdevThis song is a devotional song which honors Baba Ramdev, a revered folk deity assosciated with equality, compassion, kindness and protection. Prevalent in the parts of Rajasthan and Gujarat, worshipped by both Hindus and Muslims. The song is essentially a heartfelt plea to Baba Ramdev, asking him to hear the devotees' prayers and grant them his blessings.Kaman Garo KanhajiWhile the song's exact meaning is difficult to interpret even for me but all i can say is that it is a devotional folk song dedicated to Lord Krishna. Through its expressive vocals and poetic verses, it conveys a devotee's longing for Krishna's presence and grace.
