8th film seen at Manchester film festival.The 2nd horror film in as many years to feature a synthesiser obsessed character following on from Dead Mail it’s a trend I quite like.This plays things a little too broadly with some of its humour and has one particularly unnecessary plot line involving a self harming character that may not sit well with some viewers but I always like seeing Thomas Turgoose in a lead role I think he’s an interesting actor.
Watched this at the Manchester Film Festival last night. Film Festivals are a hit and miss affair and for me this was way off-target. The plot is nonsense and just when you thought it couldn't get any sillier - it does.The film is shot with way too many close ups and often from very low angles. I appreciate this is a technique and can be used in rooms where height is an issue - but it was really, really grating for me. The cinema was packed with most of the people having some connection to the cast and crew - so difficult to gauge what others thought of this - but it's the worst film I've seen in a while.Nothing original, reliant upon stereotype upon stereotype and the premise that it is 'grim up north' and the attempts at humour all fell flat. I like synth music but I didn't like the soundtrack either - the best bit of all of this was the interleaved archive footage. Of course this is just my opinion and others may disagree but I couldn't wait for this to end.
