Okay it has a very striking cover but let's unsheathe this film full of rigor mortis operandi shall we. So it is very well shot that captures fog and humidity that envelops the atmosphere conducive to the story so enjoy the aesthetic but I must say that the story is a little frail in nature. That be said it is a who dunnit and why but the sub love story seemed paint by numbers. I always am invested with a seaside vista and some of these dark sharp images are beautiful. So my take away is if you like the genre you'll have a field day but I'd have to say I vacillated on the material quite a few times but still think it looks fantastic with it's 70’s grain. If it sounds like your jam, I would definitely say check it out cause if you don't this shadow may haunt you;)

Spooktober IV: Morte all'italianaIt seems like the theme of the day is “competent giallo”.For a score performed by Goblin, the music here, as well as most of the film, is just underwhelming. There are some good scenes with a goofy, stupid, fun ending made worse (or better?) by the editing choices. The cinematography is good. There’s a funny “action scene” where someone tries to not get drowned in the water by holding onto a boat in motion. The performances are serviceable. I'll take convoluted Italian thrillers for 100 dollars, Alex.You know, I have seen this movie at least 3 times now and on every rewatch I forget the motive for the killings. At least the convoluted nature of some of these gialli has me revisiting them on a semi regular basis. They just warrant multiple watches. This one is pretty solid. The lapses in reason are a bit more glaring here but the actors are still able to make it rather believable.The movie lacks some of the genre's more prominent stylistic flourishes but it is still filmed competently enough.The score (by Goblin & S. Cipriani) is a highlight.
