How does she do it???Céline Sciamma has this really weird/specific thing about all her movies that makes anything feel like it’s on fire. Like there’s this one specific shot in here where Mikäel is running down a path but the only thing in focus is a leaf and everything (besides Mikäel) is completely static and somehow it felt so LOUD. Lots of moments like that where I try and picture anyone recreating the shot but not capturing that same energy. This AND Portrait had little to no music and feel like they’re screeeaming at me. I think that’s beautiful and again, literally don’t know how she does it. This was less of a review for this specific film and more of a note on her style but I’m gonna ride with it anyways.
y’all have no idea how badly i wanted to scream at his mom and shake her by the shoulders holy shit
