This is Republic Picture trying a little more expansive story than usual, but it ends up a rather unremarkable film. Rod Cameron as a rougher individual and Ruth Hussey as a upper-class dame come off well enough, but the plot never reaches any peaks and everything feels undercooked. Also ended up being the last feature film Gale Storm appeared in. Her role was wasted here, so its not a film for fans of her. She would continue on TV, having two successful TV-shows in the 1950s, My Little Margie (1952-1955), cute sitcom which I've recently started watching, and The Gale Storm Show: Oh! Susanna (1956-1960), and would sporadically making guest appearances on popular TV shows the next few decades including Love Boat and Murder She Wrote.
