An underground, nostalgic afropop night.
Mamady Kouyate is one of Guinea's most renowned guitarists, inheriting a rich lineage of griot tradition. A former member of the legendary Bembeya Jazz, he moved to the US in the early 2000s to form the Mandingo Ambassadors. This group serves as a platform for his compositions, blending traditional West African patterns with the classic 1970s electric sound of Guinea's iconic Sylliphone recordings. Expect intricate vocal and guitar arrangements supported by a tight, rhythmic section. $20 suggested donation.
