D.R.I. are a punk band hailing from Houston, Texas, USA who formed in 1982. The band are known for their riotous mix of thrash metal and hardcore punk, and have been consistently active since they formed, led by the sole constant members guitarist Spike Cassidy and vocalist Kurt Brecht. They are recognized as one of the true bastions of American underground rock, famously rising from the early 80s thrash metal boom. After a hiatus due to guitarist Spike Cassidy's health, the band returned to touring non-stop following his full recovery. They remain a vitally important and influential act in the crossover thrash and hardcore punk scenes.
