Mete Erker Trio + 1
Lyrical saxophonist explores the identity of a 1970s suburban district in an impressionistic suite. Saxophonist and composer Mete Erker presents his Trio + 1 with a double album full of musical discoveries: Tilburg Noord / Tilburg B-side. This suite explores the identity, memory and poetry of a 1970s suburban district. Together with young top musicians Floris Kappeyne (piano), Tijs Klaassen (double bass) and Wouter Kühne (drums), Erker creates a sonic world where freedom and structure meet. With this album, the saxophonist, known for collaborations with Jeroen van Vliet, Artvark Saxophone Quartet and Anton Goudsmit’s Ton Petit+, among others, takes a new, adventurous path. His music moves between contemporary European impressionism and the free, extroverted jazz of Albert Ayler and Charlie Haden.
