Eric Vloeimans’ Pico Belllo Extended
New suite of lyrical master trumpeter and star ensemble. For Orange Jazz Days, the festival that took place last October at TivoliVredenburg, trumpeter and composer Eric Vloeimans created the suite Pico Bello. This suite brings together jazz, classical music and improvisation, performed by a top ensemble featuring violinist Jasper le Clercq, cellist Jörg Brinkmann, guitarist Mark Tuinstra and percussionist Udo Demandt. The title refers to the different shades of orange – from warm amber to bright neon – that Vloeimans used as inspiration while composing. Each color forms its own musical part, in which his lyrical trumpet sound and characteristic melancholy return. The suite moves between hushed, introspective passages and open, energetic sections.
