A Supreme Blue
A nostalgic, underground jazz night.
In celebration of the centennial birth years of Miles Davis and John Coltrane, GRAMMY Award-winning trumpeter Nicholas Payton presents "A Supreme Blue." This project is a groundbreaking reimagining of two of the most influential jazz recordings: Davis’s Kind of Blue and Coltrane’s A Love Supreme. Conceived in honor of the Davis and Coltrane centennials, the performance explores these landmark compositions with arrangements informed by musical developments since the 1960s. The set presents Payton's vision in an acoustic setting with an all-star ensemble, offering a distinctive new perspective on the historic works. A New Orleans native, Nicholas Payton has established himself as one of the most original creative voices of his generation, building a singular body of work across the spectrum of Black American Music.
