Pride Concert: Golden Light

Long live the Sun King! During Amsterdam Pride week, Roi Soleil will put a smile on everyone’s face with his glitter pop. Roi Soleil is the alter ego – or superhero version, if you will – of Matthijs Rijsdijk, who describes himself as a ‘small town boy’ with teenage trauma. Get ready for irresistibly danceable and energetic pop, reminiscent of Mika and Lady Gaga, exploring themes of self-esteem, sexuality and identity. ‘Frenglish pop with a dash of queer glitter’. Roi Soleil isn’t shy about his ambition; his sights are set squarely on nothing less than the Eurovision Song Contest. Adorning his head is a golden crown (crafted from humble zip ties). Not because he deems himself special, but because in Roi Soleil’s world, everyone is made of gold. Will you grace us with your presence? Allez, c’est parti! Outdoor concert This Terrace Concert is an outdoor event. The sun can be intense and the wind can be quite strong near the water, so come prepared. In the event of unfavourable weather conditions, the performance will be held indoors in the Entrance Hall, which overlooks the river IJ.
