An underground klezmer night.
A truly extraordinary artist, Andy Statman began his career in the 70s as a virtuoso mandolinist who performed with David Grisman before studying clarinet with Dave Tarras. He became a primary architect of the Klezmer revival, merging Hassidic melodies and folk tunes with Albert Ayler-influenced free improvisation. His performance is a personal search for the sacred, grounded in both introspection and tradition. The trio features Andy Statman on clarinet and mandolin, accompanied by Jim Whitney on bass and Larry Eagle on drums.
