
K8A: Impressions of Ethiopia
An underground experimental night.
K8A is the solo project of violinist and composer Kaethe Hostetter. Combining violin, voice, field recordings, and live electronics, her performances draw on years of collaboration within Ethiopian musical communities while embracing improvisation and experimental composition. The result is a layered and transportive sound world where traditional melodies, texture, and memory converge. As a solo artist she has performed with Fred Frith, Butch Morris, Ava Mendoza, and Henry Kaiser.
