An underground jazz night.
Vibraphonist, producer, and composer Dylan K. Smith is an emerging voice rooted in the Black musical tradition. Hailing from Augusta, Georgia, his music draws from post-bop jazz, gospel, and hip-hop, honoring the lineage of Black American music while forging a sound uniquely his own. Over three nights, Smith's band ‘UNGANO’ will present a program of original compositions alongside music by Bobby Hutcherson, Joe Chambers, Harold Land, and other composers whose work has shaped the Black jazz tradition. Each evening will offer a different perspective on the band’s sound, exploring the intersections of post-bop, bebop, and collective improvisation. Note: Friday night features an open Jam Session hosted by Jason Marshall, where musicians of all levels are invited to join the stage. Thursday and Saturday are featured performances only.
The performances run from August 14 to August 16, 2026, at Dizzy's Club, located at 10 Columbus Circle in New York City.
