San Cha
A queer, homegrown cumbia night.
San Cha is a composer, vocalist, and performance artist who fuses ancestral Mexican genres—rancheras, corridos, and cumbias—with Catholic hymns and queer electroclash. Utilizing novela-inspired storytelling to navigate themes of colonization and heartbreak, she weaves together severed identities to usher in socio-political change and healing. Her expansive body of work includes the critically acclaimed album La Luz de la Esperanza (2019) and its operatic adaptation, Inebria me. A transformative performer known for her visceral stage presence and "Gospel Ranchera Punk" style, she has been a featured artist at major institutions including the Getty and LACMA.
