De geprezen Johnny Cash tribute Def Americans brengt country, rock-’n-roll en rauwe americana met gevoel voor swing, sfeer en rebellie. Precies wat er nodig is om Cash’ muziek overtuigend neer kunnen zetten. Van ingetogen ballads tot energieke klassiekers: Def Americans speelt met dezelfde passie en urgentie die The Man in Black zo iconisch maakte. De naam Def Americans knipoogt naar Cash’ periode bij American Recordings, waar hij samenwerkte met Rick Rubin. De band groeide uit tot een vaste waarde op clubs en festivals en toerde succesvol langs Nederlandse theaters. Het repertoire gaat van Sun Records tot de latere American Recordings, met uitstapjes naar gospel en duetten met “June Carter”.
