Shavero & De Rotte Appels

Shavero Ferrier is a dynamic musician and creative force from Suriname, known for his work with Mutha Flac, Luguber, and LAWHY — bands that fuse punk, hardcore, and powerviolence with urgent social commentary. From the underground scene in Paramaribo, Shavero has built a sound that is intense, direct, and rooted in resistance. With Shavero & The Rotten Appels, he revives one of Suriname’s earliest punk bands. Originally formed in 2009, De Rotte Appels made waves with their raw sound and politically charged lyrics. Their story is featured in the recent documentary Tra Fasi ("another way" in Sranantongo), which highlights the band’s impact and the rise of Suriname’s alternative scene. Now, joined by Lucas de Gier on drums and Kyle Fakkel on guitar, Shavero presents a new phase of the band — performing material from Mutha Flac, Luguber, and more, with one goal: giving voice to the Surinamese underground.
